Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to 4.00 higher. Demand was good for calves as grass buyers are starting to be more aggressive about procuring grazers with each week inching closer to spring and futures looking promising moving into summer and fall. Yearling cattle under 800 lbs saw good demand as well but the heavier weights sold with light to moderate demand. Corn has been slightly lower this week giving some confidence that at lest a temporary top has been made. Supply was moderate and the quality was good. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 3.00 higher.

Supply included: 94% Feeder Cattle (59% Steers, 38% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 5% Slaughter Cattle (91% Cows, 9% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 50%.
