Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to spots 5.00 higher. More yearlings were in the offering this week than the last several so comparable sales were light on the cattle over 600 lbs, but a higher undertone was noted on the yearling heifers in particular with some loads and several nice packages of those on offer. Demand was good for a moderate supply that included several quality weaned fall-born calves as well. Slaughter cows sold 1.00-3.00 lower.

Supply included: 83% Feeder Cattle (40% Steers, 59% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 15% Slaughter Cattle (95% Cows, 5% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (81% Stock Cows, 19% Bred Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 49%.
