Market Notes

Compared to last week, slaughter steers were 1.00 to 2.00 higher with slaughter heifers 1.00 lower with a good offering of steers and heifers. Holstein slaughter steers were sharply lower today with a light offering. Cows had instances of higher/lower and bulls and bullocks significantly lower. Feeder calves were too few last week to compare but they were trending lower this week.

Supply included: 16% Feeder Cattle (4% Dairy Steers, 4% Heifers, 6% Bulls, 86% Dairy Heifers); 83% Slaughter Cattle (44% Steers, 3% Dairy Steers, 41% Heifers, 8% Cows, 1% Bulls, 2% Bullocks); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 6%.
