Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold mostly 3.00 to 6.00 lower. Slaughter cows steady. Same song, different verse this week as the feeder market continues to come under fire from high feed costs, erratic futures trade and a weakening fed cattle market. A few weights did hold firm this week but those instances were very limited and could be attributed mostly to some local grass cattle orders. Supply light, demand light to moderate.

Supply included: 82% Feeder Cattle (43% Steers, 56% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 18% Slaughter Cattle (95% Cows, 5% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 52%.
