Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers traded mostly steady to spots 5.00 higher including some consignments of high quality yearling heifers going for replacements that helped along the yearling heifer market. Demand was good to very good with several bigger groups and loads of similar cattle offered and nearly all were long-weaned with a health program behind them. Many of the cattle offered were in attractive condition and a few stick out sales of heifer calves made you question your judgement when the hammer fell thinking, those were heifers weren't they? Supply was moderate to heavy with nice weather over the weekend. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher.

Supply included: 94% Feeder Cattle (50% Steers, 48% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 5% Slaughter Cattle (84% Cows, 16% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (85% Stock Cows, 15% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 63%.
