Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers traded firm to 5.00 higher and the majority of heifers under 650 lbs sold 8.00-15.00 higher with some large groups and loads of reputation cattle in attractive condition helping push prices higher, heifers over 650 lbs steady. A few stick out sales of basically calf weight yearlings traded sharply higher including a load of 488 lb steers trading @$254.25 and a load of home raised heifers weighing 509 @ $2.25/lb. Demand was very good for a heavy supply. Slaughter cows sold 3.00-7.00 lower following last week's sharply higher trade.

Supply included: 91% Feeder Cattle (56% Steers, 44% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 8% Slaughter Cattle (88% Cows, 12% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (53% Stock Cows, 47% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 56%.
