Market Notes

Compared to last week, a lighter test of steers and heifers sold steady to spots 5.00 lower. Sharply higher corn on Tuesday had buyers more cautious of their bids on the heavier yearlings and although there were several consignments of quality cattle, overall it didn't quite match up to last weeks large groups. Also, there were more cattle carrying flesh and/or some mud. Supply and demand were moderate. Slaughter cows sold firm to 3.00 higher.

Supply included: 93% Feeder Cattle (61% Steers, 35% Heifers, 4% Bulls); 6% Slaughter Cattle (83% Cows, 17% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 61%.
