Market Notes

Compared to last week, calves sold steady to 5.00 lower while yearlings traded steady to 3.00 higher. The calf run is starting to pick up, evident by heavier receipts this week, but there were still some loads and packages of yearlings offered which saw good to very good demand. Calves saw mostly moderate demand with the quality up and down and the majority carrying some flesh and/or un-weaned/short weaned, but the the higher quality calves on a health program saw good demand. Supply was moderate to heavy.

Supply included: 88% Feeder Cattle (49% Steers, 46% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 11% Slaughter Cattle (81% Cows, 19% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (64% Stock Cows, 36% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 48%.
