Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers sold steady to 4.00 higher and heifers sold mostly steady. Demand was good as market fundamentals look solid currently. Supply was moderate. There were still several green yearlings in the offering as grass has been good this fall, but now after a freeze and with colder weather around the corner, those cattle are coming off pasture and heading into town. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 lower, bulls steady.

Supply included: 84% Feeder Cattle (48% Steers, 51% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 14% Slaughter Cattle (60% Cows, 40% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (57% Stock Cows, 28% Bred Cows, 15% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 58%.
