Market Notes

Compared to last week, the majority of the cattle on hand were yearlings and sold steady to 6.00 higher. Calves were more lightly tested but sold steady to firm except for a few packages of 400-500 lb steers selling with a higher undertone. Demand was good for a moderate supply. A good quality run of mainly long weaned cattle were offered and with market fundamentals looking positive moving forward, buyers were active. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady.

Supply included: 92% Feeder Cattle (54% Steers, 44% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 7% Slaughter Cattle (90% Cows, 10% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (82% Stock Cows, 18% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 73%.
