Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to 5.00 higher. Cattle futures have been on a downward trend the last week or so but the quality and condition of the cattle offered held the market up as buyers were active. Demand was good for a moderate supply of mostly long weaned and yearling type cattle which will be harder to find moving into the fall. Slaughter cows sold steady to 3.00 lower.

Supply included: 94% Feeder Cattle (44% Steers, 54% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 5% Slaughter Cattle (83% Cows, 17% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (33% Stock Cows, 67% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 58%.
