Market Notes

Compared to two weeks ago: Steer calves under 700 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 lower, with instances of 15.00 lower, except 450-500 lbs 2.00 higher, under 700 lbs steady to 3.00 lower. Heifer calves 7.00 to 10.00 lower, except 500-550 lbs 1.00 to 3.00 lower. Good demand for this large offering of steer and heifer calves right off the cow, however there was pressure on the market as winter weather moved in last week bringing near 2 foot of snow and high winds today causing blowing and drifting which caused 2,000 head of cancellations at the auction. The market remains the most active on steers as feed efficiency is so important with high feed costs. Red hided cattle continue to bring steep discounts, which is creating large price spreads. Still some cattle that have not received any fall vaccinations, these cattle are discounted as well. Next feeder cattle sale will be Dec. 1, 2022.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (62% Steers, 37% Heifers, 0% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 40%. AUCTION This Week Last Reported 11/10/2022 Last Year Total Receipts: 3,562 4,167 4,210 Feeder Cattle: 3,562(100.0%) 4,167(100.0%) 4,210(100.0%)
