Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers under 700 lbs sold steady, over 700 lbs sold 6.00 to 9.00 lower. Heifer under 500 lbs sold steady to 3.00 higher, 500 to 800 lbs sold 1.00 to 3.00 lower and over 800 lbs sold 7.00 to 10.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good. Most sales had active internet buying. With higher gas prices and smaller receipts buyers opted to stay home and procure lots over the internet. Light rain across some areas of the state was welcomed by many cattlemen. As this was the first measurable rain, they have received this spring. Cash sales at the feedlots slipped back a couple of dollars. Live sales from 119.00-120.00 and dressed sales 190.00-191.00.

Supply included: 89% Feeder Cattle (52% Steers, 46% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 11% Slaughter Cattle (100% Cows); 0% Replacement Cattle (100% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 59%.
