Market Notes
Compared to last week steers under 700 lbs sold 5.00 to 6.00 higher and over 700 lbs sold steady to 4.00 higher. Heifers under 500 lbs sold steady, 500 to 700 lbs sold 4.00 to 6.00 higher and over 700 lbs sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Demand was very good for all weights for calves and feeder cattle. Moderate to good demand for cow/calf pairs. Good demand for cows and bulls going to slaughter. Nebraska feedlots traded show list for higher money on the week. Bulk of the live sales sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher at 145.00 and dressed sales sold 4.00 to 5.00 higher at 230.00. Another week of strong thunderstorms across most of the state. These storms produced a lot of damaging winds, large amounts of hail, tore up crops and what ever was in the path of the storm. It's hard to know how many center pivots are on their side since the beginning of spring due to the strong winds across the state.
Supply included: 87% Feeder Cattle (56% Steers, 44% Heifers, 0% Bulls); 12% Slaughter Cattle (100% Cows); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 77%.
