Market Notes

Compared to last week, feeder steers were 5.00-8.00 higher with instances sharply higher, and feeder heifers were mostly steady to 5.00 higher. Demand was very good for feeder classes with buyers showing the strongest demand for long-weaned ( 45+ days), preconditioned steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were mostly steady to 2.00 higher, and slaughter bulls were mostly steady to 2.00 lower.

Supply included: 77% Feeder Cattle (38% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 45% Heifers, 17% Bulls); 13% Slaughter Cattle (0% Dairy Steers, 86% Cows, 14% Bulls); 9% Replacement Cattle (4% Stock Cows, 44% Bred Cows, 9% Bred Heifers, 42% Cow-Calf Pairs, 1% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 27%.
