Market Notes

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and steer calves traded mostly 3.00 to 5.00 higher on comparable sales. Feeder heifers were unevenly steady. Not enough comparable sales on heifer calves for a market test, but a lower undertone was noted. Quality was mostly plain to attractive, with several nice load lots of yearlings off the grass on offer. Slaughter cows were mostly firm to 2.00 higher. Trading activity was active on good buyer demand. A portion of the trading region received some long overdue rain last Friday in a range of 2 to 7 inches.

Supply included: 92% Feeder Cattle (68% Steers, 27% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 5% Slaughter Cattle (88% Cows, 12% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (89% Stock Cows, 11% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 70%.
