Market Notes
Compared to last week, steers sold unevenly steady to 3.00 lower, except for some thin fleshed feather weights which sold with a higher undertone. Heifers under 600 lbs. sold steady to 4.00 higher, not enough heifers over 600 lbs. last week for good price comparisons. The supply was moderate with several consignments of heavier weight cattle several of which had multiple generations of genetics behind them. A large part of the cattle this week were value added and backed by verifiable heath programs. Demand was good with a few local buyers in the seats buying some of the reputation heifers to take home. Slaughter cows sold steady.
Supply included: 92% Feeder Cattle (56% Steers, 42% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 7% Slaughter Cattle (91% Cows, 9% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (53% Stock Cows, 41% Bred Cows, 6% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 40%.
