Market Notes

Compared to last week, steer calves over 550 lbs. and all weights of heifers traded 3.00-6.00 higher while lighter weight steers traded 3.006.00 lower. Demand was good on a light supply. Six-four percent of the offering this week weighed under 600 lbs. with many of them shortweaned or unweaned. PeeWee calves were lacking the quality we saw last week with heavier weight calves and feeders comparable to a week ago. With night time temperatures dropping into the 50s and daytime highs nearing 90, most buyers are looking for calves weaned 45 days or longer, with all their shots. Discounts on short-weaned and no shots are going to get larger as we enter the fall months.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (43% Steers, 47% Heifers, 10% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 36%. AUCTION This Week Last Reported 8/30/2022 Last Year Total Receipts: 1,748 1,753 2,330 Feeder Cattle: 1,748(100.0%) 1,753(100.0%) 2,330(100.0%)
