Market Notes
Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves traded steady to 4.00 lower with spots 6.00 lower. Yearling feeder steers traded 4.00 higher while yearling heifers were not well tested. Demand was good on a moderate supply. Quality was below average, especially on the steer side, with a lot of short weaned and bull calves in the offering. Most of the area received rain over the weekend with some areas more than others. Welcomed rain helped to green up pastures but will be short lived as excessive heat warnings and advisories are in the forecast for the next 7 days. Feeder Cattle Futures showed good gains and Fed Cattle Futures showed modest gains as Grain Futures traded lower.
Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (50% Steers, 43% Heifers, 8% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 37%. AUCTION This Week Last Reported 7/12/2022 Last Year Total Receipts: 3,650 5,132 3,110 Feeder Cattle: 3,650(100.0%) 5,132(100.0%) 3,110(100.0%)
