Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers sold uneven with the calves under 650 lbs steady to spots 5.00 lower and heavier weights steady to 3.00 higher. Heifers sold steady to 4.00 higher. Demand was moderate to good for calves and good for yearlings on an active market with several reputation strings and loads of cattle on offer for buyers to work with. Supply was heavy with some pretty nice January weather to move cattle. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 1.00 lower.

Supply included: 92% Feeder Cattle (62% Steers, 36% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 6% Slaughter Cattle (81% Cows, 19% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (70% Bred Cows, 30% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 66%.
