Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers sold 4.00-10.00 lower while heifers sold uneven from 5.00 lower to 5.00-8.00 higher with the gain on those weighing 550-650 lbs. Demand was moderate to mostly good. The market has taken a bit of a stepback from the highs a couple weeks ago with cattle futures and cash fed cattle losing some ground while grains are showing strength. However, the prices are still impressive and market fundamentals remain very positive. Supply was moderate following many weeks of large numbers.

Supply included: 87% Feeder Cattle (50% Steers, 48% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 10% Slaughter Cattle (78% Cows, 22% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (62% Stock Cows, 38% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 49%.
