Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers sold steady to spots 5.00 higher and heifers sold steady. Several consignments of long weaned calves were on hand in thin condition which made for an active market as turnout to grass nears. An attractive offering of cattle over 700 lbs was on hand as well, demand was good to very good for calves and yearlings. Supply was moderate. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher, except lean cow 3.00-5.00 higher, bulls steady.

Supply included: 91% Feeder Cattle (53% Steers, 46% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 7% Slaughter Cattle (86% Cows, 14% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 57%.
