Market Notes

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold 5.00-10.00 higher and feeders sold firm to 5.00 higher. Heifer calves weighing 350-475 lbs sold up to 15.00 higher. Demand was good to very good for a heavy supply with nice weather to move and receive cattle and the quality was attractive all day. Trade was active as summer cattle contracts are well over the $2.00 mark and grass buyers were ready to gather some grazers along with high demand for 6 weight steers making for a higher market. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady.

Supply included: 90% Feeder Cattle (61% Steers, 38% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 9% Slaughter Cattle (75% Cows, 25% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 55%.
