Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold mostly steady. Supply and demand were moderate. The quality of cattle and the way they were handled varied quite a little from several consignments of un-weaned calves with the males still intact, to loads of long weaned yearlings. The fall-born calves are making up a larger portion of the offering each week. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady.

Supply included: 84% Feeder Cattle (53% Steers, 42% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 15% Slaughter Cattle (60% Cows, 40% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (65% Stock Cows, 35% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 49%.
