Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers traded steady to 5.00 higher. Supply was light following the holiday weekend but the quality of the consignments offered was attractive and buyers were active for the cattle that fit their order. Demand was good. The high volatility of the grain markets continued Tuesday as corn was sharply lower and feeder cattle saw large gains. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady.

Supply included: 90% Feeder Cattle (59% Steers, 40% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 8% Slaughter Cattle (91% Cows, 9% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 48%.
