Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers sold steady to 3.00 higher and heifers traded steady to 5.00 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Supply was moderate and included eight loads of yearlings from a few different consignors. Also, a nice offering of calves was on hand but several were un-weaned, most under 600 lbs saw little to no discount and those over 600 lbs were discounted slightly but mainly due to carrying some flesh. Slaughter cows sold steady to 4.00 higher as the lean and fleshier cows caught up with the gains the boning cows saw last week. Slaughter bulls steady to 1.00 higher.

Supply included: 88% Feeder Cattle (61% Steers, 36% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 11% Slaughter Cattle (88% Cows, 12% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 54%.
