Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers traded 3.00-6.00 higher and heifers steady to 5.00 higher with the gain on those under 600 lbs. Demand was good for a moderate supply. The recent rain and mud likely kept some cattle at home. The quality of the calves was very good which helped push the market, along with sharply lower corn late last week. Slaughter cows sold steady to 4.00 higher with all of the gain on the boning type cows. Slaughter bulls sold mostly 2.00 higher.

Supply included: 90% Feeder Cattle (60% Steers, 38% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 9% Slaughter Cattle (89% Cows, 11% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 42%.
