Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady. Demand was good for a moderate supply of mostly calves of good quality. Friday's Cattle On Feed report was considered bullish with some solid proof of smaller numbers of cattle as drought over the last few years has caused a large culling of the nations cow herd. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 3.00 lower.

Supply included: 78% Feeder Cattle (40% Steers, 47% Heifers, 13% Bulls); 20% Slaughter Cattle (57% Cows, 43% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (100% Stock Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 31%.
