Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers sold mostly steady and heifers sold steady to mostly 5.00 lower. Demand was very good for the higher quality 400-700 lb steers but moderate for heifers and the steers that were a touch plainer. Overall, the quality was a little more uneven than normal. Slaughter cows sold 3.00-5.00 higher. Some timely rains have fallen across the area over the last few days bringing some cooler weather as well which made it easier to move cattle.

Supply included: 91% Feeder Cattle (38% Steers, 59% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 7% Slaughter Cattle (94% Cows, 6% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (12% Stock Cows, 58% Bred Cows, 31% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 24%.
