Market Notes

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold firm to 6.00 higher. Demand was good for a moderate supply that was likely affected by heavy rain that fell Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Corn has traded sharply lower the last few trading sessions and Wednesday Feeder Cattle futures responded with big gains. Slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00 lower, bulls steady.

Supply included: 89% Feeder Cattle (45% Steers, 51% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 9% Slaughter Cattle (91% Cows, 9% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (37% Stock Cows, 37% Bred Cows, 26% CowCalf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 18%.
