Market Notes

Compared to last week, mostly calves were offered and the steer end under 500 lbs sold sharply higher as a couple buyers were looking for cattle to graze on wheat or rye this fall/ winter and the moisture has finally come to get it up and going. The heavier steers and all weights of heifers sold mostly steady. Demand was good to very good, best for the grazing type steers. Supply was moderate and the quality was good. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 2.00 lower.

Supply included: 89% Feeder Cattle (43% Steers, 54% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 9% Slaughter Cattle (89% Cows, 11% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (50% Stock Cows, 29% Bred Cows, 21% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 36%.
