Market Notes
Compared to last week's light volume sale, the best test was on light weight steers and heifers under 600 lbs with 400-550 lb steers selling on a very active market trading 10.00-20.00 higher, spots 25.00 higher on the 450-550 lb steers, 550-600 lbs sold 3.00-8.00 higher. Steers and heifers over 600 lbs sold with a sharply higher undertone on limited comparisons. Feeder heifers weighing 400-600 lbs sold 3.00-8.00 higher. Feeder cattle market continues to see huge jumps each week as several small packages and groups of thin/fancy blk steers weighing from 370520 lbs hit the 3.00+ per lb mark on Monday's auction with several stick out sales on these light steer calves along with a near pot load of 522 lb fancy blk heifers selling on and active market and two pot loads and two part loads of 700-765 lb steers all sold with very good demand. Over all a very active market on feeders with a good quality offering with good weighing conditions made for a very aggressive market with buyers very active to own cattle and pushing some very impressive prices throughout the day. Slaughter cows on a very large offering sold steady.
Supply included: 83% Feeder Cattle (55% Steers, 44% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 17% Slaughter Cattle (7% Steers, 93% Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 37%.
