Compared to last week, a very light test of feeders coming off the Easter weekend with steer and heifer calves under 600 lbs selling steady to firm, spots 3.00 higher on the 450-500 lb heifers, 600-800 lbs were scarce and a pot load of 902 lb steers sold with a firm undertone. Slaughter cows on a much lighter offering sold mostly steady with the bulk mostly average dressing cows. July corn closed 23 1/4 cents higher at 8.07 with December corn up 14 1/2 cents at 7.49 3/4 putting significant pressure on the Feeder Cattle contracts with the front months down ranging from 2.42 to 2.87 lower.

Supply included: 84% Feeder Cattle (53% Steers, 46% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 16% Slaughter Cattle (9% Steers, 3% Heifers, 83% Cows, 5% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 29%.
