Compared to last week, again this week a lot of new crop steer calves weighing under 600 lbs that were unweaned, short weaned but on comparable sales with last week sold steady to firm, 600-650 lbs were lightly tested and sold with a firm undertone, 650-700 lbs traded firm to 3.00 higher, 700-850 lbs were not well tested and two pot loads of 865 steers sold with a sharply higher undertone with last weeks pot load, but were 30 lbs lighter and with better weighing condition. Feeder heifers weighing 400-500 lbs sold fully steady to firm, with 500-600 lb heifers selling 3.00-7.00 higher and over 600 lbs were lightly tested with a pot load of 715 lb heifer selling with a firm to higher undertone. Slaughter cows on a large offering sold steady to firm. Demand was moderate to good with supply moderate the best demand was on the 550-700 steer calves and the pot loads of 865 lb steers along 500-600 lb heifers selling with good demand on and active market as quality was good.
Supply included: 84% Feeder Cattle (60% Steers, 36% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 16% Slaughter Cattle (2% Steers, 1% Heifers, 86% Cows, 11% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 49%.
