Compared to last week feeders under 750 lbs. sold 5.00 to 10.00 higher, weights over 750 lbs. sold firm to 5.00 higher. The supply was light as many early week sales were still dealing with poor road conditions in the country following the winter storms from the week previous. Demand was good to very good with the best demand for mid to lighter weights that are suitable for grazing once grass arrives. Although the overall offering was light this week, the market was good for those that got cattle to town several 5 wt. steers got well pass the 200.00 mark and 8 wt. steers once again passed the 160.00 mark. Boxed beef cutouts continued the seasonal decline, choice closed on Friday at 274.52, down 5.29 and select at 267.83, down 8.22 compared to the previous week. Negotiated feedlot sales saw the largest volume of this calendar year so far, over 102K head were reported as of Friday afternoon. Live sale were mostly at 140.00-142.00 and dressed sales most at 224.00, although there was sales on both side of those numbers that should be about where the averages fall for the week. Slaughter was also very good last week with estimated data showing the largest week of the year so far as well at 659,000 head, of course actual data on those number runs two weeks behind. The Missouri Stocker Formula consist of 3191 head with a weighted average weight of 546.68 and a price value of 189.51, 7.69 higher than the previous week.

Supply included: 75% Feeder Cattle (52% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 45% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 11% Slaughter Cattle (2% Steers, 1% Heifers, 84% Cows, 13% Bulls); 14% Replacement Cattle (6% Stock Cows, 62% Bred Cows, 16% Bred Heifers, 14% Cow-Calf Pairs, 0% Heifer Pairs, 1% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 54%.
