Market Notes

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves under 350 lbs were not well tested. Steer calves 350-500 lbs steady to 3.00 higher; 500-550 lbs traded 5.00 lower, with 550-600 lbs 7.00-13.00 higher. Heifer calves 350-500 lbs sold mostly 4.00-8.00 lower; 500-600 lbs 3.00-8.00 higher. Feeder steers steady to 3.00 higher. Feeder heifers sold 5.00-10.00 higher, with instances 14.00 higher. Trade moderate to active, demand moderate to good. Slaughter cows were mostly steady to 4.00 higher. Slaughter bulls steady to 2.00 higher.

Supply included: 85% Feeder Cattle (69% Steers, 27% Heifers, 4% Bulls, 0% Dairy Heifers); 9% Slaughter Cattle (83% Cows, 17% Bulls); 6% Replacement Cattle (18% Stock Cows, 64% Bred Cows, 9% Bred Heifers, 7% Cow-Calf Pairs, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 34%.
