Market Notes

Compared to last week, Steers and Dairy Steers sold steady to 2.00 lower. No comparison for Heifers. Dairy Heifers sold 1.00-3.00 lower, with no test for Bulls. Cows sold 2.00-3.00 lower across all classes. Buyer attendance for the slaughter cattle sale was light, with weak demand overall on a light supply of cattle. Reduced attendance and demand may be due to the holiday weekend, and local farmers returning to field work with recent favorable weather conditions. Feeder dairy calves sold strong. Buyer demand was moderate on a light to moderate supply.

Supply included: 63% Slaughter Cattle (36% Steers, 5% Dairy Steers, 53% Cows, 6% Dairy Heifers); 37% Feeder Dairy Calves (80% Bulls, 20% Heifers).
