Market Notes

Compared to last week, breaking type slaughter cows were 1.00 to 2.00 higher and boning type slaughter cows were 5.00 to 6.00 higher, while slaughter bulls were 2.00 lower. There were too few comparable feeder steers to establish an adequate market comparison; heifers were mostly 8.00 to 9.00 higher on a very light test; and feeder bulls were mostly 16.00 to 18.00 higher, also on a very light test. Demand was good; market activity and buyer interest were active. Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate. Cattle quality was average to attractive.

Supply included: 48% Feeder Cattle (15% Steers, 40% Heifers, 45% Bulls); 38% Slaughter Cattle (91% Cows, 9% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Cow-Calf Pairs); 1% Slaughter Sheep/Lambs (100% Hair Breeds); 11% Slaughter Goats (33% Kids, 30% Nannies/Does, 37% Bucks/Billies). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 20%.
