Market Notes

Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder steers steady to 3.00 lower, heifers 750-850 lbs 3.00 to 5.00 lower, other weights of heifers not well tested last week for comparison. Good demand for this nice offering of yearling steers and heifers right off grass, the flesh condition was light and attractive. The market was under pressure this week as new crop corn futures have climbed to nearly 7.00 a bushel. There were some light, calf weight yearlings but no spring calves this week as cow-calf producers have enough grass to graze yet without needing to sell early. The market was active, especially on the longer strings that offered full load lots. Many small consignments of tested open heifers, the quality of those was very attractive but buyers had to compete heavily to make full loads from these small bunches. Next special yearling feeder cattle sale will be Sept. 29, 2022.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (46% Steers, 54% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 90%. AUCTION This Week Last Reported 9/1/2022 Last Year Total Receipts: 2,188 1,030 2,624 Feeder Cattle: 2,188(100.0%) 1,030(100.0%) 2,624(100.0%)
