Market Notes
Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder steers 600-750 lbs 10.00 to 13.00 higher, other weights too narrowly compared. Feeder heifers steady to 5.00 higher in a narrow comparison. Good to very good demand for this nice offering of weaned fall calves and yearlings. The market was very active as cattle that can be ran on grass this summer are able to be turned out immediately. The grass is green and growing and yearling operators are active bidders as the fall months of the Feeder Cattle board are very attractive. The corn futures have stopped their meteoric rise, which is helping to settle the fears of cattle feeders somewhat. Cash fed cattle sales in Nebraska and Iowa continue to trade with a positive basis over the futures, which is helping to support the feeder cattle market. This report will not be released again until feeder cattle offerings increase in the late summer/early fall as is typical.
Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (48% Steers, 52% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 64%. AUCTION This Week Last Reported 5/12/2022 Last Year Total Receipts: 1,417 992 0 Feeder Cattle: 1,417(100.0%) 992(100.0%) 0(0.0%)
