North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

Archived Report

10/1/2022

Total Run: 2,618

Market Notes

Compared to last week: In a limited comparison yearling feeder steers 7.00 to 8.00 lower, yearling heifers sold not well compared but sold with lower undertones. Good demand remains for yearling steers and heifers but with pressure on the futures market and new crop corn much higher than last year cattle feeders are needing to buy cattle lower to meet projected breakeven prices. Drought conditions have expanded across the state but cow/calf producers have been able to hang on so far without having to sell early.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (45% Steers, 55% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 99%.
