North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

Archived Report

4/9/2022

Total Run: 6,065

Market Notes

Compared to last week: Feeder steers under 750 lbs steady to 4.00 higher, over 750 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 lower. Feeder heifers 500-750 lbs 5.00 to 8.00 lower, other weights not well compared. Good demand for light cattle to go to grass with, especially so as the grazing season is just weeks away, moderate to good for cattle bound for finishing yards but there is pressure on the market as the cash fed cattle fails to reach the highs that many industry members expected. The cost of gain is a major obstacle to overcome as CME corn contracts are at 7.50 per bushel.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (38% Steers, 61% Heifers, 1% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 72%.
