North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

Archived Report

3/19/2022

Total Run: 4,893

Market Notes

Compared to last week: Feeder steers steady to 4.00 higher, feeder heifers under 750 lbs 7.00 to 12.00 higher, over 750 lbs 5.00 higher. Very good demand for light weight, light fleshed steers and heifers suitable for grazing this summer. The market was most active for these types as spring is near and there are few of this class of cattle available. As the fall months of the Feeder Cattle contract are at 180.00 plus, there is great optimism for the coming yearling market in the fall and producers want to have cattle to sell. Auction receipts remain limited as many producers had to sell earlier than normal due to the short feed conditions across the state.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (44% Steers, 54% Heifers, 1% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 70%.
