Market Notes

Compared to last week quality feeder steers with light flesh traded 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Average quality steers carrying flesh were trending lower with the summertime heat coming on. Heifers under 500 lbs were 2.00 to 4.00 higher, over 500 lbs were uneven but trending lower. Slaughter cows were 1.00 to 2.00 higher and slaughter bulls were 1.00 to 5.00 higher. Lighter fleshed cattle were in good demand as always with hot weather coming. Supply was good on feeders and heavy on slaughter cattle and replacements. Not all slaughter cattle and replacement cattle were viewed.

Supply included: 76% Feeder Cattle (34% Steers, 44% Heifers, 22% Bulls); 16% Slaughter Cattle (71% Cows, 29% Bulls); 8% Replacement Cattle (54% Bred Cows, 46% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 8%.
