Market Notes

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 500 lbs were mostly 3.00 to 5.00 lower, steers over 500 lbs were steady with limited comparisons from last week. Heifers under 400 lbs were steady and heifers over 500 lbs were steady to 2.00 lower. Feeder bulls under 600 lbs were 2.00 to 8.00 higher and feeder bulls over 600 lb were not well tested. Over all supply was moderate and so was demand on the holiday weekend with quality on the feeders lower than last week. Slaughter cows and bulls were both still in good demand to buyers and trended mostly steady compared to two weeks ago as they were not reported last week.

Supply included: 79% Feeder Cattle (32% Steers, 51% Heifers, 16% Bulls); 16% Slaughter Cattle (70% Cows, 30% Bulls); 4% Replacement Cattle (19% Stock Cows, 50% Bred Cows, 13% Bred Heifers, 19% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 14%.
