Total Run: 29,644

Market Notes

Compared to last week steers under 600 lbs sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher, 600 lbs offering sold 10.00 higher, 700 lbs sold 6.00 higher with 800 lbs offerings 1.00 higher. Heifers under 600 lbs sold 6.00 to 10.00 higher, 600 lbs 10.00 higher, over 700 lbs sold steady to 3.00 higher. Demand was mostly good for all weights on hand. Some auctions had to move to a different day of the week due to another blizzard on Tuesday that brought rain, ice, and snow. Nebraska feedlots traded dressed sales steady on the week at 252.00. Not enough live sales for a comparison. Mud or tag will be a concern in the next few weeks as feedlot pens are a mess and will take some time for them to dry back up. Slightly mudding cattle can carry around 5 lbs of mud on the hide. This can take off .50% from the dressing percent of an animal. Half of percent less in dressing percent would be around 1.25 per cwt less in the price the producer is paid.

Supply included: 96% Feeder Cattle (59% Steers, 41% Heifers); 4% Slaughter Cattle (100% Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 66%.
