Market Notes
Compared to last week, feeder steers were mostly 5.00-8.00 higher with instances 10.00-15.00 higher. Feeder heifers were mostly 3.00-8.00 higher with some instances sharply higher. Slaughter cows were 5.00-9.00 higher with instances 15.00 higher as offerings this week were significantly higher quality than normal at some markets. Slaughter bulls were mostly 2.00-6.00 higher with very good demand. Offerings were lighter for all classes this week due in part to many producers being in the hay field, as well as this week leading up to Memorial Day weekend.
Supply included: 77% Feeder Cattle (37% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 44% Heifers, 18% Bulls); 16% Slaughter Cattle (82% Cows, 18% Bulls); 7% Replacement Cattle (2% Stock Cows, 44% Bred Cows, 9% Bred Heifers, 43% Cow-Calf Pairs, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 27%.
