Market Notes

Compared to last week slaughter steers and heifers were selling mostly steady this week with a good offering of both steers and heifers. Holstein slaughter steers were 2.00 lower today. Cows were 1.00 to 2.00 lower but good value on high dressing breaker cows and bulls 2.00 to 3.00 higher. Feeder steers were 3.00 to 5.00 higher with feeder heifers instances of higher/lower and feeder bulls significantly higher and a good offering of value added and fancy type feeders.

Supply included: 36% Feeder Cattle (29% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 54% Heifers, 16% Bulls); 64% Slaughter Cattle (29% Steers, 3% Dairy Steers, 36% Heifers, 28% Cows, 4% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 17%.
