Market Notes

Compared to last week, slaughter steers were 1.00 to 2.00 lower and slaughter heifers were 1.00 lower but still good value on higher quality and a good offering of steers and heifers. Holstein slaughter steers were too few to compare. Cows were 1.00 to 2.00 higher with bulls 1.00 to 4.00 lower. Feeder steers were significantly higher with feeder heifers instances of higher/lower and feeder bulls sharply higher.

Supply included: 21% Feeder Cattle (23% Steers, 27% Heifers, 50% Bulls); 79% Slaughter Cattle (42% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 27% Heifers, 21% Cows, 8% Bulls, 0% Dairy Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 25%.
