Market Notes

Compared to last week, slaughter steers were 2.00 higher with slaughter heifers instances of higher/lower and good buyer participation. Too few of Holstein slaughter steers to compare. Cows were 2.00 to 5.00 higher with a good offering of high dressing cows and active buyer interest and bulls 1.00 to 2.00 lower this week. All classes of feeder calves were sharply higher for weaned and preconditioned feeders.

Supply included: 15% Feeder Cattle (41% Steers, 31% Heifers, 27% Bulls); 85% Slaughter Cattle (46% Steers, 3% Dairy Steers, 17% Heifers, 31% Cows, 3% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 52%.
